==Preface==
This section of our Wiki describes the ruleset currently used on our server. If you have questions regarding these rules ask one of the admins currently online.

Most rules are common sense and it would therefore be impossible to list all the things you could do to get yourself banned. This page is not acting as a complete list of bannable offenses — it instead aims to clear up some confusion about those rules that may not be obvious.

===Abbreviations and Acronyms===
= Common rules =
:'''0.0: Do not be a dick.''' We are all here to have fun. Do not set out to ruin the game for other players, unless, of course, you have an objective to do so.
:'''0.1: Do not be a bigot.''' We have players of different races, nationalities, religions, and lifestyles. We expect our players to be tolerant to people who are different from them in some way, and respect their choices. Do not use terminology that is considered bigoted or racist, or is offensive to a large group of people.
:'''0.2: Do not engage in ERP (erotic roleplay).''' Even though Space Station 13 is a game with certain mature themes, a noticeable part of our community is below the age of 18. Do not roleplay acts of an erotic nature, use sexually implicit emotes, or use insults of a highly sexual nature. Do not write, upload, or distribute pornographic literature. Also, please do not scream "RAPE", as it makes people uncomfortable.
:'''0.3: Do not mix IC (in character) and OOC (out of character) knowledge.''' Do not post information related to a round in progress in the OOC chat. A person reading the OOC chat should not be able to know whether a certain job is occupied, whether anyone is dead, etc. Do not use information your character would have no way of knowing in game. Please avoid as much as you can using OOC terminology in character, but if it is necessary, use double parentheses ((like this)).
:'''0.4: Do not metacommunicate or multikey.''' Space Station 13 is a game that relies on players having limited information about ongoing events. You are only allowed to participate in a round from a single BYOND account. Do not try to join with a different account to continue playing. If you are playing with a friend with different characters in the same round, only use in-game means of communication to discuss in-game events.
:'''0.5: Do not spam or advertise.''' Do not post links without prior approval by an admin.
:'''0.6: Use proper IC language.''' We are an English speaking community. Please make sure everything you say IC is more or less understandable to an English speaking player. Avoid using other languages in OOC conversations. Do not use netspeak, emoticons, or internet memes in vocal IC communication.
:'''0.7: Listen to admins.''' If an admin tells you that you shouldn’t be doing something, you shouldn’t be doing it. All cases are subject to admin discretion. Insulting admins is never a good idea. If you receive a PM, try to reply as fast as possible, otherwise you may be considered ignoring the message. Do not ask admins to make you a special character, but remember to keep your special role preferences up to date so you are considered as a candidate.
:'''0.8: Use common sense.''' If you suspect something might lead to you being banned, it probably is. The rules cannot cover all possible cases. If you are not sure whether something would be considered against the rules, use adminhelp. Keep in mind that different admins can have different opinions on some actions, and sometimes an action can be considered against the rules in some circumstances but not in others. If you were told something was okay once it does not mean you can do it again.

Abbreviations for common terms used on the server:
= In-game rules =
* '''RP''': Roleplay - To take up a character and act like they would, performing out their emotions, feelings, characteristics and actions.
:'''1.1: Do not grief.''' If you are not a round antagonist, do not cause major station damage, create hull breaches, release harmful gasses, spread harmful diseases, severely harm or murder people. Even if you are an antagonist it might be a good idea to adminhelp before doing round-changing actions such as releasing the singularity or exploding a bomb.
* '''IC''': In Character - When you are Roleplaying and are in your character.
:'''1.2: Do not greytide.''' Do not break windows to space, electrify doors, lube floors, steal important items, attack or rob random people, especially those that are AFK or braindead. Do not vandalize areas or break lights excessively. Do not block public hallways. Do not deconstruct shuttle chairs. Do not spray space lube on the floor. For antagonists, the murderboning rule applies instead.
* '''OOC''': Out of Character - This has two applications within the server:
:'''1.3: Do not act as an antagonist when not.'''  If you commit crimes that can result in you receiving capital punishment as non-antagonist, you are breaking this rule. Do not cause chaos as a non-antagonist. Do not act violently when being arrested or removed from an area you are not supposed to be in; using force to defend yourself in cases like that is not considered self-defense.
** Something done outside of your character, this may be a list of things but all boil down to things that would not been done while In Character.
:'''1.4: Do not powergame.''' As a regular crew member, you're not an experienced soldier. Do not rush into danger without a good reason to do so. Do not collect dangerous items, weapons, tools "just in case". Use reasonable self-defense; do not try to crit or kill your attacker in revenge. Do not call the escape shuttle without a proper reason, and do not recall it needlessly. This rule does not apply to antagonists.
** To use the server wide OOC chat, where you may talk OOCly with other players about various things.
:'''1.5: Do not metagame.''' Your character does not know everything you do. You should not know the nature of antagonist items and abilities, except those that are obviously dangerous, like bombs, guns, or armblades. You should not know the exact location of valuables in areas you don't have access to, or the location of off-station structures. Of course, antagonists are expected to know everything about their abilities and are trained to do any station job.
* '''LOOC''': Local Out of Character - Only the people near your character will see this out of character text.
:'''1.5.1: Nanotrasen standard procedure related to unknown alien organisms.''' Any unknown alien organisms showing signs of malice or hostility towards the station or crew must be subdued and kept in a xenobiology pen for analysis, or, if that is not possible or feasible, killed and purged from the station by means of spacing, cremating, gibbing, or whatever else you can think of.
'''SSD''': Sudden Sleep Disorder - When a player disconnects or loses connection, his character will fall over and begin to sleep. This phenomenon is referred to as going ‘SSD.
:'''1.5.2: Nanotrasen standard procedure related to unauthorized religious activity.''' There are many cults existing on Nanotrasen space stations, and many of them use various runes and chants, and encourage self-mutilation. Only the cult of Nar-Sie is an enemy of Nanotrasen. They are the only cult known to be capable of actual magic. Possible signs of the cult of Nar-Sie include: sacrifices, talking stones, magical constructs, violent cult members attacking the crew. If the cult of Nar-Sie is suspected on the station, loyalty implants may help prevent the spread of their ideas. If the cult is acting in a hostile manner, any cultist can be considered an enemy of the station. Lethal force is authorized and encouraged against magical constructs.
* '''Antag''': Antagonist - A player that has gotten an antagonist role, designed to add some chaos to the round to make things fun.
:'''1.5.3: Nanotrasen standard procedure related to widespread disregard for the chain of command.''' The Syndicate are known to make attempts to destabilize Nanotrasen space stations by encouraging the crew to establish an alternative chain of command. Syndicate provocateurs may spread among the crew the urge to take over the station by eliminating all heads of staff, or by taking control of the station facilities and marking them with gang symbols. Loyalty implants are designed to counter these ideas and may be used on crew members in the event of mass mutiny. Syndicate provocateurs can resist the implant, and are to be punished as enemies of Nanotrasen.
* '''Valid''': Valid kill - A player who has committed such actions as to be deemed a “valid kill”. This usually applies to confirmed antags. A player who who intentionally roams the station looking for “valids” is known as a valid hunter.
:'''1.6: Use a realistic name.''' Your character should have at least a first and a last name. Obscene names or names that are similar in look or pronunciation to obscene phrases are strictly forbidden. Avoid using famous names. Do not include honorifics in your name. Clowns, Mimes and Wizards are somewhat exempt from this rule.
* '''Murderboning''': Excessive Killing - A player who excessively kills everyone in his path not because he has to but rather he wants to do so.
:'''1.7: Demonstrate Clone Memory Disorder.''' If your character returns from the dead via cloning or cyborgization, he should not remember anything related to his death and absolutely nothing he saw after he died. If you get to return to a round as a different character, such as a personal AI, adamantine golem, space ninja, etc., you should not remember anything that happened before you became that new character.
* '''Self-Antag''':  Self-Antagonization - Antagonizing without being marked as an Antagonist. Self Antaging refers to players who decide to do actions that normally only a Antagonist would do, i.e; Murdering other players, heavily damaging the station or causing chaos on a mass scale.

= Role specific rules =
== Following rules apply to everyone ==
=== Antagonists ===
:§  '''2.1.1: Do not murderbone.''' Focus on your objectives. Do not kill people randomly, especially braindead people. Do not cause explosions simply to kill innocents. Good reasons to kill are: objective to kill, significant increase in access, self-defense, silencing a witness, stealing an identity. Security personnel are always valid kills. This rule does not apply to antagonists with a hijack objective, nuclear operatives, malf AI. As wizard, feel free to kill anyone hunting you. As "survivor", only kill in self-defense.
:§  '''2.1.2: Be active when playing a round-defining antagonist.''' If you are playing a nuclear operative, wizard, malf AI, revolution leader, or blob, and you need to go AFK or offline, adminhelp to notify admins. If you know you will not be able to stay for a full round, disable the appropriate antagonist preferences.
:§  '''2.1.3: Be a true revolutionary.''' If you become a member of the revolution, even against your will, follow the orders given by the head revolutionaries (marked by a blue R). Do not attack your fellow revolutionaries (marked by a red R). Do not kill regular crew members if they can be converted, unless in self-defense or following orders. Try to avoid doing actions that lead to you or other revolutionaries being discovered, captured, deconverted, or killed.
:§  '''2.1.4: Be a worthy cultist.''' If you are induced into a cult, even against your will, pay attention to cult speech you hear. Do not attack fellow cultists (marked by a Cthulhu head). Do not kill normal crew members if they can be converted or sacrificed, unless in self-defense. If you capture a soul, try to install it into a construct as soon as possible. Try to avoid doing actions that lead to you or other cultists being discovered, captured, deconverted, or killed.

== Rules==
=== Creatures ===
:§  '''2.2.1: Rules still apply to creatures.''' If you become a slime, a monkey, or are a victim of a staff of transformation, you keep your antagonist/non-antagonist status. When not antagonist, do not use your new form's abilities to grief. Do not split as a slime in public places.

'''Practice common sense while consulting these rules.''' The general idea counts, not the exact wording. The rules are guidelines for the server and should be interpreted to suit the situation at hand, not manipulated to suit your needs. As always, don't be a dick and you shouldn't have to worry about most of these.
=== Silicons ===
:§  '''2.3.1: Follow your laws.''' Remember about law priority: laws higher up the list override subsequent laws. Having an ion law does not necessarily mean you are rogue. Cyborgs must follow the orders of their master AI, unless these orders are overridden by cyborg laws.
:§  '''2.3.2: Know who is human.''' Hulks, slime people, plant people, fly people are all human. Adamantine golems, monkeys are not. Humans and lizard people are humanoid. Traitors, revolutionaries, cultists, nuclear operatives, ninjas, wizards default to being humanoid. Changelings can only be treated as non-humanoid after you or a slaved borg witnessed them performing actions impossible for humanoids. One's human status cannot be changed by an order unless you have a law that allows such orders.
:§  '''2.3.3: Ignore threats of self-harm.''' Only actions that cause damage are considered harm by default. Stunning, slipping, syringe injections are not harm (but the injected chemicals might cause harm). You are not obligated to prevent self-harm. Voluntary cyborgization is self-harm.
:§  '''2.3.4: Do not choose obscene names.'''
:§  '''2.3.5: Be active when playing a silicon role.''' If you are playing a cyborg or AI and you need to go AFK or offline, adminhelp to notify admins. If you know you will not be able to stay for a full round, disable the appropriate job preferences.

===Rule 1: Listen to the admins.===
=== Heads of Staff ===
:§  '''2.4.1: Captain, secure the disk!''' This is a rule so we can jobban people who do not do it.
:§  '''2.4.2: Never abandon the station. When playing a command role, do not leave the station z-level without a good reason.'''
:§  '''2.4.3: Be active when playing a head of staff.''' If you are playing a command role and you need to go AFK or offline, adminhelp to notify admins. If you know you will not be able to stay for a full round, disable the appropriate job preferences.

The Staff Members have final say on the server; if you are job-banned on the server, do not continue to drag the conversation on, but rather take it to the designated forum section.
=== Security ===
:§  '''2.5.1: Follow Space Law and the Standard Procedure.''' Do not bucklecuff prisoners, except when conducting a search or during evacuation procedures in the Escape Dock Security Room or the Escape Shuttle.
:§  '''2.5.2: Avoid using lethal force. All security personnel are equipped with stun weapons.''' Only use lethal weapons when other choices are unavailable.
:§  '''2.5.3: Armory is for emergencies. Do not take gear from the armory without a serious reason.''' Do not forget to return the gear after it is no longer needed. Confiscated weapons or items need to be stored in the armory, not carried around for personal use.

Ahelp is not to be spammed, a few messages is sufficient for admins to see and handle your request. If they do not get to it, they are either busy with others or not available. If this is the case, take your request to the forums if needed.

If an admin asks you to stop arguing over the in-game PMs, you must stop but may take it to the forums in a private message.
== Following rules only apply to non-antags ==
=== Engineering ===
:§  '''3.1.1: Know your job.''' If you do not know the full correct procedure to setting up the singularity, do not try to set it up alone.
:§  '''3.1.2: Hardsuits are for work.''' Do not take a hardsuit unless you have work to do that requires it. Avoid wearing hardsuits inside the station when there are no emergencies. Do not leave the department with a hardsuit before the singularity is set up.
:§  '''3.1.3: Do not abuse telecoms.''' Do not deliberately disrupt communications or upload harmful or obscene telecoms scripts.

===Rule 2: Minor roleplay rules apply.===
=== Science ===
Minor roleplay rules apply. These prohibit such behaviours as:
:§  '''3.2.1: Bombs can only be used for mining or on the test range.''' Do not carry bombs around the station without a good reason.
:§  '''3.2.2: Do not release untame slimes from the xenobiology lab.'''
:§  '''3.2.3: Do not activate gold slime extracts outside of secure pens.'''

====Metagaming====
=== Robotics ===
Metagaming (the act of using OOC information in an attempt to gain an IC advantage) is not allowed. Examples of metagaming include:
:§  '''3.3.1: Do not create mechs for your personal use.''' Contact the appropriate department and ask whether a mech is required.
:§  '''3.3.2: Do not give cyborgs obscene names.'''

* Placing current round information into OOC chat.
=== Genetics ===
* Using LOOC to talk to others to give them current round information; applies to Ghosts as well.
:§  '''3.4.1: Do not abuse powers.''' Do not use hulk to break walls without a good cause. Do not use telekinesis to attack people without a good cause.
* Using a third party program of any sort to communicate current round information to other players participating in the round.
:§  '''3.4.2: Do not force genetic changes.''' Do not give out powers or disabilities without the subject's consent. Do not turn people into monkeys unless specifically asked to. Do not distribute harmful injectors.
* Using multiple accounts for yourself during a round is not allowed. If you are sharing an IP address or account with another player of the server, please contact administration and let them know.

When it comes to suiciding, do not suicide upon getting caught by a conversion antagonist. Not only is this a very dickish action, but you waste their time trying to do their job for nothing to gain.
=== Chemistry ===
:§  '''3.5.1: Do not abuse grenades.''' Do not trigger harmful grenades in public areas or near other people.
:§  '''3.5.2: Do not carry around harmful chemicals without a good reason.'''
:§  '''3.5.3: Do not misrepresent chemicals being given to people.''' Do not distribute harmful chemicals, including Chloral Hydrate and Space Lube.

====Unserious/Improper character names====
=== Cargo ===
Unserious and Improper character names will be changed by an admin. If you continue to join rounds with unserious names, you may receive harsher consequences than just a name change. We allow names from video games and fantasy names, but forbid real life celebrity names or crude pun names.
:§  '''3.6.1: Do not order weapons crates without a good reason.'''
:§  '''3.6.2: Do not disable mulebot safeties.'''

Examples include but are not limited to: “Mike Hunt, Mike Hawk, Adolf Hitler, Donald Trump, John Cena, Barack Obama, xxhungdaddy69xx, gamergirlxd, Hugh Jass, Dick Payne.”

''Note that some species may have names that can be perceived as failure to adhere to this rule but are acceptable, such as a Vox name of "Yakititah".''
=== Mining ===
:§  '''3.7.1: Do not bring gibtonite on station.'''

====Use of Netspeak and Smilies in-character====
The use of "Netspeak" (7h15 15 1337 sp33k) and "Smilies" (:D) are prohibited from use in IC verbal chat but are allowed through IC written text such as a sheet of paper or PDA messaging.

===Rule 3: Interactions with people under SSD===
You may not touch or interact with people under the influence of 'Sudden Sleep Disorder', '''except''' to pull them to Cryodorms and place them in a cryo sleeper. You may check if a person is SSD by examining their unconscious body; the text of “They have suddenly fallen asleep!” will appear if they are under the influence of Sudden Sleep Disorder.

Even if the person in question who goes SSD is wanted, you may not arrest them. Likewise, you may not kill them if they are your assassination target.
= Additional guidelines =
:Please participate in votes. Feedback is always appreciated.
:Set your preferences to roles you intend to play. Nobody likes suiciding crew members.
:If you have a question, check the wiki. If that did not help, use adminhelp.
:Do not complain about lag. If lag happens, everyone already knows.

If the person is going SSD in a convenient manner for themselves to avoid the situation, please report it to an admin for them to assess the situation.
= How to ban appeal =
'''If you feel the punishment you received is not fitting the actual infraction you did:'''
Join our forum and head to the [http://forum.yogstation.com/index.php?forums/ban-appeals.2/ Ban-Appeal section].
To ensure your ban get dealt with properly:
#Provide Logs
#Make sure to follow these [http://forum.yogstation.com/index.php?threads/important-notes-on-ban-appeals-read.2293/ rules]
#Know what you did wrong and how to avoid that in future.

If the person in question goes SSD and they are your assassination target, or a key player in the round(IE: A Captain who has a disk on a Nukie round) you may ask administration if you may kill/loot their body.
Remember, if you're unsure of anything, use ahelp.

  If you have any issues with this set of rules, the administrators, players, or anything else, please report it on the forums.
===Rule 4: Maintain a respectful environment for other players.===
We hope you have fun here and enjoy your stay!

Maintain a respectable environment while on the server. Being offensive, trolling, flaming, flame baiting, hate speech, bigoted speech towards other players is not allowed - if you wouldn't want it said to you, don't say it to them.

Under no circumstances is harassment of another player allowed, regardless of who the victim is.

Racial, Homophobic, Ethnic, Religious, etc, slurs are not allowed IC or OOC. '''Exception:''' Inter-species racism (so long as no other rules are broken)is allowed as it is considered IC.

Excessive profanity in OOC is not allowed, keep profanity to a minimum and completely stop if it begins to upset other players or are asked to stop by a member of staff.

If an issue with another player arises during a round, communicate it clearly and maturely to an administrator. Venting your frustration to staff or other players via OOC/LOOC will not help the situation, only worsen it.

Do not use the server to advertise other servers or for other commercial interests.

Do not put down or invalidate any community and server, you can easily enjoy your time on a specific server without having to share your disinterest or plain criticism of other ones.

===Rule 5: Impersonation is forbidden.===

Impersonation of any community member, player or staff is strictly forbidden. This includes, but does not limit to:

*Logging on with a byond key near identical to that of a current Staff Member.
*Impersonation as a part of social engineering, such as posing as a Valve employee.

No excuses will be made on this, regardless of the reasoning behind the action. Impersonation attempts will be dealt with harshly if anyone is caught trying to impersonate anyone.

===Rule 6: Play the Role you've chosen.===
Choose the role based on what you want to spend the round doing.

If you choose a Head of Staff role such as ‘Chief Medical Officer' or ‘Captain’ you will be expected to play the role and fulfill the job, as long as you are not an antagonist. If you wish to leave the round early for any reason as a Head of Staff, radio in on command chat that you must leave and send an adminhelp to let staff know of your departure. Then store all the the job specific items you have in your locker before heading into cryo.

If for some emergency or technical issue you disconnect as a sensitive role and are job banned on the pretense of leaving without notifying an admin, a quick appeal on the forums explaining what happened will solve the issue and revert the job ban.

Joining the round as a job simply for the equipment and abandoning your post is not acceptable, you are expected to do your job reasonably well. Officers should enforce space law, members of medical are expected to staff medbay, etc.

===Rule 7: Antagonists (including self-antag)===

====Station Destruction====
The clean air of the station is for everyone to use, do not randomly poke holes in the station for no reason.

The use of bombs as a Non-Antag is only acceptable in the bomb range, mining asteroid, and other Z-level variants. If you wish to use bombs on the station for any reason such as a blob, alien infestation, ETC. contact administration and get their approval.

The use of bombs as an Antagonist is only acceptable on targets in areas away from primary hallways. You are responsible for knowing the power of your own bomb and knowing if it will breach a primary hallway. Ask an admin for guidance if you are unsure

Breaking friends out of security brig is allowed as a Non-Antag to the extent of minor damage to the station, bombing the station to release your friend is reserved for Antagonists. if you end up forcing Security to expend a large amount of time and effort on you, be prepared to have an admin speak to you.

Releasing the singularity or the tesla is reserved for those who have the "Hijack the Shuttle" Antagonist objective. Releasing the singularity or the tesla for any other reason will result in harsh consequences. If you feel like you want to use it, or got something from a traitor bundle for it, be sure to Ahelp it first and talk it out beforehand. It is still usually a bad idea.

====Shuttle grief and end round grief====
While in transit, shuttle grief is not allowed. Antagonists can still attempt to finish their targets off while the shuttle is in transit, but not by attacking large amounts of people.

Violence is allowed once the shuttle has docked and end round statistics are displayed.

====Assault and Self-Defense====

Self defense is allowed on the station to the extent of saving your own life. You may not put someone into a critical condition with a broken skull just because they threw a bottle at you. However, if you threaten to murder them and proceed to corner them, do not complain if they place you into critical condition to preserve their own life.

Minor assault (A few punches, throwing objects) on a person over a trivial matter is acceptable but expect to be arrested by security for doing so. If you feel like your character would react violently, you can always ask the person over LOOC if they do not mind. Keep in mind your RP shouldn’t create extra work for Medbay.

====Clown and Mime====
The Clown and Mime are not special in any aspects when in regards to this rule. They may prank the crew by slipping and other methods but they may not brutally beat someone to death for a gag nor may the crew beat them to death to spare the sanity of the station.

While pranking the crew on a basis is fine, doing it during high action or important events, such as Nuclear Ops attacking, breaching a malfunctioning Ai, or what not, will often get you attacked by the crew themselves during it or questioned by an admin concerning it.

====Antagonist====
The role of antagonist may pit you against the station, however this is not grounds for murderboning the entire crew if your objective is to steal a jetpack. You may, however, antagonize/murder specific people who will help you complete your objective or who are hindering you from completing said objective

However, while not a bannable offense, it is frowned upon to go SSD at round start before alerting an admin or instantly handing yourself into security forces.

It is not required to go after your objectives as an antag, but is heavily frowned upon if you don't at least make an attempt.

The “Hijack” traitor objective means you are able to do what ever you want during the round. However this does not exempt you from certain rules, such as blatant metagaming, highly racist or discriminatory insults, or ERP. Ahelp it if something you want to do feels like it might be too far.

====Self-Antagging====
Murdering someone because of a minor transgression is considered Self-Antagging and will result in a ban.

Breaking into high level areas in it of itself is not considered Self-Antagging but rather what you do in the area. (IE:Breaking into the armory and stealing all the E-guns.)

Petty theft is not considered self-antagging but stealing the high-value items without a reason will be considered as such.

Resisting arrest as a Non-Antag is allowed but murdering the officer after you cuffed him is not allowed.

Claiming your character is a psychopath and has mental disorders does not grant you permission to randomly murder people.

===Rule 8: Valid-Hunting===

Forcing random people to drink holy water on cult rounds without concrete evidence of them being cultist, randomly dragging people into the chapel on vampire rounds, abandoning your job to hunt, etc. are forms of valid hunting and will result in harsh consequences.

===Rule 9: Artificial Intelligence===
As the Artificial Intelligence has a lot of responsibilities, and thus also a lot of access to chaos. They are to be played with a level of common sense. Playing as the AI does not grant you immunity to any other server rules.

The order of the laws is what determines the priority of the laws, if two laws contradict each other you are to follow the one that is highest in the list, as it would overrule any contradictory laws that come under it.

Threatening an AI with self harm is not a valid way of trying to exploit the AI. If a crew member threatens to harms him/herself in an attempt to force the AI to do something the AI may simply ignore it, unless it specifically interprets self harm as a threat to the crew. This rule is slightly subjective as to what lawset the AI is on.

Attempting to change your own laws unless you are a Malfunctioning Ai may lead to a jobban. However if you suspect a change to your laws by someone else to be grief, adminhelp it and it will be looked into.

===Rule 10: Corporate Security===

Space law is there to dictate what is meant to happen to criminals that are caught, detailing their charges and giving them an appropriate punishment for their actions. Security forces are not the law, they are there to enforce the law, thus reading and correctly applying space law will help with admins not having to step in. Incorrect application of space law may result in affecting another player’s round negatively, thus causing an unwanted and avoidable issue. Incorrectly applying and or outright ignoring space law may result in a security jobban.

As security, you are to follow your SOP more ardently than other departments on the station and failure to comply with security SOP may result in a job ban.

===Rule 11: Erotic Roleplay (ERP)===

Erotic Roleplay is strictly forbidden on this server. Though we are certain some people find it natural and would like to RP their more intimate experiences the staff team has to look at the logs and see each sentence, emote, action. If you wish to ERP with another player use a third-party program like Skype.

Disclaimer: Getting caught ERPing on the server may result in being purged by a Death Squad.

Please note, these rules can be slightly outdated. Make sure to consult the rules on the server as well just in case.

This section of our Wiki describes the ruleset currently used on our server. If you have questions regarding these rules ask one of the admins currently online.

Common rules

0.0: Do not be a dick. We are all here to have fun. Do not set out to ruin the game for other players, unless, of course, you have an objective to do so.
0.1: Do not be a bigot. We have players of different races, nationalities, religions, and lifestyles. We expect our players to be tolerant to people who are different from them in some way, and respect their choices. Do not use terminology that is considered bigoted or racist, or is offensive to a large group of people.
0.2: Do not engage in ERP (erotic roleplay). Even though Space Station 13 is a game with certain mature themes, a noticeable part of our community is below the age of 18. Do not roleplay acts of an erotic nature, use sexually implicit emotes, or use insults of a highly sexual nature. Do not write, upload, or distribute pornographic literature. Also, please do not scream "RAPE", as it makes people uncomfortable.
0.3: Do not mix IC (in character) and OOC (out of character) knowledge. Do not post information related to a round in progress in the OOC chat. A person reading the OOC chat should not be able to know whether a certain job is occupied, whether anyone is dead, etc. Do not use information your character would have no way of knowing in game. Please avoid as much as you can using OOC terminology in character, but if it is necessary, use double parentheses ((like this)).
0.4: Do not metacommunicate or multikey. Space Station 13 is a game that relies on players having limited information about ongoing events. You are only allowed to participate in a round from a single BYOND account. Do not try to join with a different account to continue playing. If you are playing with a friend with different characters in the same round, only use in-game means of communication to discuss in-game events.
0.5: Do not spam or advertise. Do not post links without prior approval by an admin.
0.6: Use proper IC language. We are an English speaking community. Please make sure everything you say IC is more or less understandable to an English speaking player. Avoid using other languages in OOC conversations. Do not use netspeak, emoticons, or internet memes in vocal IC communication.
0.7: Listen to admins. If an admin tells you that you shouldn’t be doing something, you shouldn’t be doing it.
0.8: Use common sense. If you suspect something might lead to you being banned, it probably is.

In-game rules

1.1: Do not grief. If you are not a round antagonist, do not cause major station damage, create hull breaches, release harmful gasses, spread harmful diseases, severely harm or murder people. Even if you are an antagonist it might be a good idea to adminhelp before doing round-changing actions such as releasing the singularity or exploding a bomb.
1.2: Do not greytide. Do not break windows to space, electrify doors, lube floors, steal important items, attack or rob random people, especially those that are AFK or braindead. Do not vandalize areas or break lights excessively. Do not block public hallways. Do not deconstruct shuttle chairs. Do not spray space lube on the floor. For antagonists, the murderboning rule applies instead.
1.3: Do not act as an antagonist when not. If you commit crimes that can result in you receiving capital punishment as non-antagonist, you are breaking this rule. Do not cause chaos as a non-antagonist. Do not act violently when being arrested or removed from an area you are not supposed to be in; using force to defend yourself in cases like that is not considered self-defense.
1.4: Do not powergame. As a regular crew member, you're not an experienced soldier.
1.5: Do not metagame. Your character does not know everything you do.
1.5.1: Nanotrasen standard procedure related to unknown alien organisms. Any unknown alien organisms showing signs of malice or hostility towards the station or crew must be subdued and kept in a xenobiology pen for analysis, or, if that is not possible or feasible, killed and purged from the station by means of spacing, cremating, gibbing, or whatever else you can think of.
1.5.2: Nanotrasen standard procedure related to unauthorized religious activity. There are many cults existing on Nanotrasen space stations, and many of them use various runes and chants, and encourage self-mutilation.
1.5.3: Nanotrasen standard procedure related to widespread disregard for the chain of command. The Syndicate are known to make attempts to destabilize Nanotrasen space stations by encouraging the crew to establish an alternative chain of command.
1.6: Use a realistic name. Your character should have at least a first and a last name. Obscene names or names that are similar in look or pronunciation to obscene phrases are strictly forbidden. Avoid using famous names. Do not include honorifics in your name. Clowns, Mimes and Wizards are somewhat exempt from this rule.
1.7: Demonstrate Clone Memory Disorder. If your character returns from the dead via cloning or cyborgization, he should not remember anything related to his death and absolutely nothing he saw after he died. If you get to return to a round as a different character, such as a personal AI, adamantine golem, space ninja, etc., you should not remember anything that happened before you became that new character.

Role specific rules

Following rules apply to everyone

Antagonists

§ 2.1.1: Do not murderbone. Focus on your objectives.
§ 2.1.2: Be active when playing a round-defining antagonist. If you are playing a nuclear operative, wizard, malf AI, revolution leader, or blob, and you need to go AFK or offline, adminhelp to notify admins. If you know you will not be able to stay for a full round, disable the appropriate antagonist preferences.
§ 2.1.3: Be a true revolutionary. If you become a member of the revolution, even against your will, follow the orders given by the head revolutionaries (marked by a blue R). Do not attack your fellow revolutionaries (marked by a red R). Do not kill regular crew members if they can be converted, unless in self-defense or following orders. Try to avoid doing actions that lead to you or other revolutionaries being discovered, captured, deconverted, or killed.
§ 2.1.4: Be a worthy cultist. If you are induced into a cult, even against your will, pay attention to cult speech you hear.

Creatures

§ 2.2.1: Rules still apply to creatures. If you become a slime, a monkey, or are a victim of a staff of transformation, you keep your antagonist/non-antagonist status. When not antagonist, do not use your new form's abilities to grief. Do not split as a slime in public places.

Silicons

§ 2.3.1: Follow your laws. Remember about law priority: laws higher up the list override subsequent laws. Having an ion law does not necessarily mean you are rogue. Cyborgs must follow the orders of their master AI, unless these orders are overridden by cyborg laws.
§ 2.3.2: Know who is human. Hulks, slime people, plant people, fly people are all human.
§ 2.3.3: Ignore threats of self-harm. Only actions that cause damage are considered harm by default. Stunning, slipping, syringe injections are not harm (but the injected chemicals might cause harm). You are not obligated to prevent self-harm. Voluntary cyborgization is self-harm.
§ 2.3.4: Do not choose obscene names.
§ 2.3.5: Be active when playing a silicon role. If you are playing a cyborg or AI and you need to go AFK or offline, adminhelp to notify admins. If you know you will not be able to stay for a full round, disable the appropriate job preferences.

Heads of Staff

§ 2.4.1: Captain, secure the disk! This is a rule so we can jobban people who do not do it.
§ 2.4.2: Never abandon the station. When playing a command role, do not leave the station z-level without a good reason.
§ 2.4.3: Be active when playing a head of staff. If you are playing a command role and you need to go AFK or offline, adminhelp to notify admins. If you know you will not be able to stay for a full round, disable the appropriate job preferences.

Security

§ 2.5.1: Follow Space Law and the Standard Procedure. Do not bucklecuff prisoners, except when conducting a search or during evacuation procedures in the Escape Dock Security Room or the Escape Shuttle.
§ 2.5.2: Avoid using lethal force. All security personnel are equipped with stun weapons. Only use lethal weapons when other choices are unavailable.
§ 2.5.3: Armory is for emergencies. Do not take gear from the armory without a serious reason. Do not forget to return the gear after it is no longer needed. Confiscated weapons or items need to be stored in the armory, not carried around for personal use.

Following rules only apply to non-antags

Engineering

§ 3.1.1: Know your job. If you do not know the full correct procedure to setting up the singularity, do not try to set it up alone.
§ 3.1.2: Hardsuits are for work. Do not take a hardsuit unless you have work to do that requires it. Avoid wearing hardsuits inside the station when there are no emergencies. Do not leave the department with a hardsuit before the singularity is set up.
§ 3.1.3: Do not abuse telecoms. Do not deliberately disrupt communications or upload harmful or obscene telecoms scripts.

Science

§ 3.2.1: Bombs can only be used for mining or on the test range. Do not carry bombs around the station without a good reason.
§ 3.2.2: Do not release untame slimes from the xenobiology lab.
§ 3.2.3: Do not activate gold slime extracts outside of secure pens.

§ 3.3.2: Do not give cyborgs obscene names.

Genetics

§ 3.4.1: Do not abuse powers. Do not use hulk to break walls without a good cause. Do not use telekinesis to attack people without a good cause.
§ 3.4.2: Do not force genetic changes. Do not give out powers or disabilities without the subject's consent. Do not turn people into monkeys unless specifically asked to. Do not distribute harmful injectors.

Chemistry

§ 3.5.1: Do not abuse grenades. Do not trigger harmful grenades in public areas or near other people.
§ 3.5.2: Do not carry around harmful chemicals without a good reason.

Cargo

§ 3.6.1: Do not order weapons crates without a good reason.
§ 3.6.2: Do not disable mulebot safeties.

Mining

§ 3.7.1: Do not bring gibtonite on station.
